Family Scrapbook Pages

Good Morning!

It is very winter in our state today.

Yesterday the snow started about 2 pm, and as I wake up this morning

at 5 I hear my sweet friend out in our driveway with the  snowblower.

There is about 8-10 inches of snow!  We have an enormous driveway,  it is now

6:46 and the snow blower is still running with him behind it!

My gratefulness heart is so full.  Because, I know that Dana is scheduled

to drive to Texas today with a load of oil field reamers in this aftermath

of a snowstorm and needs his sleep.  He has struggled this last week to sleep

through the night.  This will be such a great blessing for him, as these days I only

shovel the walks.  In days of yore I shoveled between the house and the 

garage, but not more than that, and not even that anymore.

Well maybe when the snow isn't deep.

I have been working on the photos of my family when I was a child.

I had great intentions of doing this while my mother was alive.

With her by my side, there would have been no lapses in my memory if I had done this.

I did finish my father's pictures before he was gone.  I knew that I had

failed getting the family pictures done before mom was gone, I certainly wasn't

going to miss that opportunity with dad and the photos of his life.

Dad lived 2 years longer than mom, and after I completed all of his pictures

in a scrapbook, I took it to him, and he wrote things for each page to tell us what

they were.  I also spent some time separating the photos, dad had scanned all the 

photos into the computer and digitized them for all of us kids, then gave each of us

a copy of all the photos.

I asked for the originals, which he gave me, and I started my scrapbooking 

vigil of putting them onto pages and creating beautiful photo albums

of these photos.

Three years later, I am still working on them.  I have to say that there have been other things

that seem to get in the way, and this project always seems to get put on the back burner.

Not that there hasn't been anything done for years, it just still is not finished.

I'll eventually get there, but the thing I have learned is...

Don't wait till your parents are gone to figure out who is in these pictures!

As a whole, I do know most everyone.  But on occasion there is someone that I simply

cannot recall even meeting them or even being in the photo, even though

I am!  I text pictures to my brother to see if he remembers, and sometimes

he does, but there are still a few that neither of us remember, and our other

siblings were simply too young at the time to remember either.

Write on the back of your photos, and today with everyone taking hundreds of 

photos on our phones, there will  be lots of photos we won't have any clue who is in them!

Today I am sharing my parents wedding pictures.

How cute were they!  

Mom wore a blue dress, I asked if I could wear her wedding 

dress when I got married, and she told me that she didn't have a white one,

and that she didn't have it any more.  but none the less,

they are so cute in these pictures!

They were married in December in Massachusetts .

The postal stamp says May but that was just one that I found,

and was excited it said New York on it! 

Dad was born in New York, just something from the east coast was nice.

The wedding, they were married by a justice of the peace.

This is my favorite photo of them, I have this photo framed in my bedroom.

So cute to have the shadow behind them, and Dad  holding Mom. 

Cutting the small cake, they only had them and another couple with them.

Mom is from Germany, so her family wasn't there, and Dad was 

in the Air Force, so not close to his family either.

Mom's extended family didn't approve of this marriage so did not support her.

So fun.  

I decided to do all the photos in silver, gold, and black and white.

This blog isn't about what is on the pages, but just that I am documenting our

families photos and sharing them.

I am now well on my way to completing this book.

I now have 60 pages completed and scanned into my computer!

That is a feat in itself alone!

I'll share more as time goes on.

Light the World

The Light the World campaign is sponsored by

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

It is an awesome way to give during the Christmas Season.

The challenge is to do a kind thing for someone else 

everyday in December before Christmas.

I took the challenge last year for the first time.

I'm not sure how many years the Church has been doing

this, but for me to participate last year was my first year.

It is magical, it brings the spirit of giving to a far different 

level,  It doesn't have to be anything big. 

sometimes it may be a call, or a visit,

or a text, or a plate of cookies.  Nothing big, just

the fact that you have remembered someone,

and shown love!

I made a book last year to represent each day before  Christmas.

It rejuvenated me to write down my act of kindness

to others, and it will be a journal for me in years to come.

I am sharing with you my pages today that I made

to Light the World.

OCrowley Hobbits

Nothing more fun than a few Hobbits

Robin posting today.

These are my grandsons, they have the elfin cloaks like the

Hobbits wore throughout the Lord of the Rings Movies.

I used the Lodge Collection, Forrest Collection and a few other

things to complete these layouts.

The feathers are from Gina's Designs.

I love her chipboard designs, and use them a lot in my layouts.

The layout background of this layout is the clover CS.

Oval sticker, and tear and dew drops.

The lower layout is the Getaway Glitter CS, and 

I used the Lodge line and Forrest line with this layout as well.

I also used the Tree Straws, Tear drops and dew drops.

This was part of our photo shoot with the boys.

They dressed up as Hobbits. Their mom made the elfin cloaks for them

for Halloween the year before.  The cloaks are awesome.

Any young man who love Lord of the Rings would love to

have one of these.  Thanks Mom!

Hiking in Alaska

Hello Robin's Nest Readers,

Robin Posting today.

Still more Alaska pictures!

I'm getting closer to getting this trip finished!

So more to come.

I wanted to do something completely different with this layout.

I decided to add a bright pink with the green to this layout.

It is just a simple layout, but so monumental

to the trip.  We just had lots of fun in the beautiful

Alaska mountains.

Who could not fall in love with this scenery?

I can see why people love to live in Alaska, I will 

add to that, in the Summer!

I don't enjoy the winters, but seriously, I don't really enjoy

the winters period.  I like them, just not for a very long time.

But, alas, I live in Utah, so there is cold, cold, cold.

So while, I am in the cold, I love to flip through

my summer photos and enjoy the warmth that is inseminated by the photos.

I love how the pink and green go together with these 

fun photos,  can you see the fire plants that are

so famous in Alaska in these pictures?

They line the roads everywhere there and bring such beauty to the 

state.  We went blueberry picking, but didn't find any blueberries on this trip,

just hiked, and enjoyed the view of these gorgeous mountains

Heart Breaker Gabe

Hello 

This wonderful Wednesday morning.

Robin posting today.

I love to take pictures of our grand kids when we are visiting them.

2 years ago when we were visiting our kids in 

Alaska, I asked the 2 younger boys to dress up for me,

so we could have something different of them

to scrapbook.

This is Gabe.  He dressed up as a geek.

I just smiled, and we went outside for his photo shoot.

Of course his first photo shoot, he was all dressed in Black

representing Men in Black.

I haven't finished that layout yet, still needing some stickers for it.

But this one, I had to post just before valentines day,

since when he leaned up against the stop sign by their home

I keep on singing to myself.

Stop! In the Name of Love.

He puffed out his chest, put on black glasses and black suspenders,

and pulled his pants up as high as he could get them.

I love the originality of these kids,

they make me happy, laugh, and just simply bring great joy

into my life.  I love them!

You will see a few more of these photos

of our photo shoot in the next few weeks.  They are just so 

fun and very original!

I used the back of Ivy Cardstock, Glitter Green Lodge, and from the 

new collection Saffron Sunrise, the Saffron Cards.

Red tear drops, and yellow 6mm dew drops.

I cut the stop sign with my Cricut/Gypsy.

Well for now, here is Gabe in his fun personality,

Picking Blueberries in Alaska

Hello Readers,

I can honestly say that of all the things we did when we

visited Alaska, this was one of my favorite days.

We arrived for a visit in Alaska in August, packed for August in Utah

weather!  Ha!  Were we ever surprised.  It was cool and rainy,

so the very first thing we needed to do was go find warm clothes,

Sweatshirts, long pants, and even socks!

I was so not thinking cool days, rain, and fog,

But to be part of this weather was so very fun.

One morning we ate breakfast and drove for quite a while

in the rain.  Stopped for some shooting practice, and then

off to find blueberries and rose hips.

We arrived in at the end of the road, where

there was only dirt roads, and construction workers

chopping down trees, and then walked for a while to find

this beautiful area full, full, full of blueberry bushes.

You have to be careful when you go picking because

the bears like blueberries too.

The grandkids were great blueberry pickers, and they found some

rose hips there too.  The fog was so fascinating for me,

and I spent some time alone with the camera, capturing the

beauty and quietness of the morning fog. 

I loved the pictures of the pickers,

the talking, the working, the fog, all in one.

It took a few pages to show this beauty of this fun morning,

and the sheer joy of just being in the mountains.

I hope that if you never get to Alaska and experience this,

that just maybe through some of these photos you 

can feel what we felt, the fog rolling through the trees,

the crispness of the air, the complete joy of 

just being part of nature, and partaking of the quietness of the day.
Picking blueberries was the bonus.

When we arrived home, Robyn made blueberry pie,
and it was to die for!  Such a wonderful treat.

16 Candles Layout

Hello!

It's Wednesday!  Robin Here.

I just realized as I logged into write this post,

today is my grand daughters Birthday, Becca Ann

not Chelsea, but what a great day to share this

birthday page layout!

(It's also my anniversary 40 years for us today!)

Chelsea at 16!

What a great picture that Rachel took!

Chelsea is now almost 20 now, so I am a few years behind in

scrapbooking this photo, but

it has been set a side for a while because I wanted 

to use 16 candles!

Her expression is priceless.

And I wanted to capture it in a fun way.

She and Rachel love bright colors, so I wanted

to use bright colors instead of girly colors.

These candles show that great brightness

of the glitter chipboard used on the

candle paper clips 16 of them!

Here at the top of the layout, I have used

the same solid color card stock as I did for my

cake below.  I just tore it, then added

velvet ribbon (Robin's Nest) to the top,

I love that the ribbon is cut uneven.

I also used a large clear dew drop, and aqua 

6mm dew drops.

Here is another shot of my cake and candle paper clips.

I used a green glitter chipboard butterfly from the 

butterfly chipboard packet, and blue diamond drops

for the body of the butterfly.

Such a fun way to capture a very special age and birthday.
